Maintenance
of your Durastill Water Distiller
Once
a week*
The evaporator tank of your distiller should be drained to remove the concentrated minerals and other
impurities which collect during the distillation process. Unplug the distiller then open the drain valve to empty the evaporator
tank. Rinse well and drain the rinsing water completely. ( It is recommended to add 1/4 teaspoon of ''Still Sweet''
scale minimizer before re-starting your distiller.)
Once a month*
Unplug the distiller, then, to the hot water add 2 tablespoons of
''Attitude" scale dissolver. Stir well and let mixture settle for 24 hours with tank lid off. Rinse well and
drain evaporator tank a few times. Restart distiller.
* The two above procedures do not require to be done as often if you have a water softener-conditioner,
since the hardness minerals that cause scale build up would be removed and scaling would thus be minimized.
Once a year
Sterilizing procedure
for your water distiller and water storage tank.
Unplug the water distiller and empty the water storage tank in containers. (This is distilled water; do not
throw it away)! Take off and discard the used post-filter. Connect the distiller water outlet to the storage tank inlet.
Open the water storage tank faucet to allow steam to escape. Plug the distiller and turn the fan switch to ''OFF''.
This process will generate steam to sterilize the complete unit and exit through the storage tank faucet. Let the steam
exit for 30 minutes then turn the fan switch to ''ON'' to let the system cool down. Once water storage is
cool to the touch unplug the distiller and close the water storage tank faucet. (After writing today's date on a new post-filter,
install it between the distiller and the water storage tank. Next year you will know when the time has come to sterilize your
distiller and to change your post-filter.)
P.S.
The pre-filter should also be changed once a year.
