Bisphenol A Statement by Health Canada

Health Canada confirms that it is safe to drink water out of hard plastic bottles.

In an announcement made in Ottawa today, Health Minister Tony Clement stated that Health Canada has concluded that the 18L polycarbonate water bottles used by Blue Ridge Premium Bottled Waters and other bottlers pose no risk to human health.

Minister Clement stated that polycarbonate “is safe for use in water bottles” and “that their latest scientific assessment determined that the migration of bisphenol – A into food and beverage products from polycarbonate is not a concern.”

The Minister concluded that “Canadians can continue to use hard plastic (polycarbonate) water bottles”.
